How Much Does Junk Removal Cost in Hong Kong?
Six factors drive pricing. Why we quote per-job on WhatsApp instead of publishing a price list. When you'll pay more, when you'll pay less.
Junk removal in Hong Kong is priced per-job based on six factors: volume, floor and lift access, WEEE-regulated items, urgency, on-site dismantling required, and district (loading bay rules). We quote per-job on WhatsApp in about 15 minutes because a fixed price list would be either wrong for most customers or padded to protect against worst-case jobs.
The six factors that drive price
1. Volume
How much stuff, measured in cubic metres or truck-loads. A single sofa is one price. A whole flat is 3–5 sofas' worth of price, but at a lower per-item rate because we only need one truck and one crew mobilisation.
2. Floor and lift access
A cleanout from a Grade-A tower with a working service lift is the cheapest per-item scenario. Add cost for:
- Walk-ups above 3 floors (each additional flight adds carry time)
- Lifts too small for the item (dismantle-on-landing takes 30–60 minutes)
- Village houses with spiral staircases
- No parking near the loading zone (drop-transfer between trucks)
3. WEEE-regulated items
Fridges, washing machines, TVs, air conditioners, and computers must go through Hong Kong's licensed WEEE·PARK stream. This adds compliance and transport cost compared to general bulky waste. It also means you get a properly-tracked disposal path with an optional certificate — useful for ESG-conscious landlords or corporate tenants.
4. Urgency
Same-day service pulls a crew from a planned route — there's a small coordination premium. Scheduled 2–3 days ahead is the most efficient booking window. Emergency after-hours or public-holiday jobs cost more because the crew is on overtime.
5. On-site dismantling
A large sectional sofa that won't fit the lift needs to be cut down on the landing. Same for L-shape configurations, oversized cabinets, and modular office furniture. Dismantling takes 20–60 minutes and adds crew cost.
6. District and estate rules
Some estates and Grade-A towers require pre-booked loading-bay slots, floor-mat protection, and management sign-off. The paperwork alone can add half an hour. Central, Quarry Bay (Taikoo Place), Kwun Tong Grade-A towers all have these rules. Discovery Bay requires ferry-cargo booking for large items.
What's cheap, what's expensive, in Hong Kong
Cheap
- Single item (sofa, bed frame, mattress) from a modern flat with working lift, scheduled 2+ days ahead, non-WEEE
- Bulk cleanout from an office with a service lift and no dismantling needed
- Scheduled monthly cleanouts (recurring commercial contracts)
Expensive
- Same-day piano extraction from a walk-up
- Whole-flat estate cleanout from a Mid-Levels walk-up with 6 flights, no lift, mix of WEEE and general waste
- Post-typhoon after-hours emergency work
- Sea-side village house with tide-dependent boat access
